Denarius of Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; ca. 1086–1138), ca. 1125–1138. Obverse: in beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon (allegory—fight between good and evil, fight against pagans; knight/martyr imagery; Romanesque style). Reverse: in triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls (one with a dot); between its arms one ball each with a dot; one arm intersects the other at approximately one-third of its length. Issue mark: spearhead. Material: coin. Diameter: 11.8–12.1 mm. Weight: 0.32 g.
