Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1086–1138). Obverse: in a beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an inverted dragon; a ball under the knight's right elbow. Reverse: in a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls (two with one dot each); a ball at the intersection of the arms and one ball between each arm (each with one dot). Romanesque style; allegorical imagery of knights, dragons, fight between good and evil, fight against pagans; depiction of Saint Adalbert referenced. Ca. 1125–1138. Poland, Kraków. Coin; diameter 12.2 mm, weight 0.28 g.
