Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1086–1138 and 1107–1138). Obverse: in the beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon; under the knight's right elbow, an isosceles cross with ball-tipped arms. Reverse: in the triple beaded border, an isosceles cross tipped with balls; at the intersection of the arms, a ball; between its arms, one ball (three of them have one dot); on one arm, closer to the center, a crossbar; one arm intersects the other at approximately 1/3 of its length. Iconography: knight, dragon, spears, chain mail, equal-armed cross, mouths; themes of martyrs, fight between good and evil, fight against pagans; Saint Adalbert referenced. Romanesque style. c. 1125–1138. Poland, Kraków. Coin; diameter 12.2–12.4 mm; weight 0.48 g.
