Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1086–1138). Obverse: in beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Reverse: in triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls; between its arms, one ball. Iconography: spearhead (issue mark), chain mail, equal-armed cross, jaws, knight, dragon, martyrs, fight between good and evil, fight against pagans, spears. Style: Romanesque. Associated saint: Adalbert (ca. 956–997). Date: ca. 1125–1138. Place: Kraków, Poland. Coin; diameter 12.3–13.1 mm; weight 0.43 g.
