denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1086–1138/1107–1138), Romanesque style, ca. 1125–1138, Poland, Kraków, coin. Obv.: in the beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Rv.: in the triple beaded border, an equal-armed (isosceles) cross topped with balls; at the intersection a central ball; between the arms a ball (one with a dot); in one quarter next to the central ball a dot. Iconography: spearhead, spear, chain mail, knight, dragon, dragons, jaws, fight between good and evil, fight against pagans, crosses, martyrs, Adalbert (Saint; ca. 956–997). Diameter: 11.2–11.7 mm. Weight: 0.35 g.
