Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1107–1138). Obverse: in the beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Reverse: in the triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls; at the intersection of the arms, a ball. Allegories of fight between good and evil, fight against pagans; motifs include equal-armed cross, spearhead (issue mark), crosses, chain mail, jaws, knight, martyrs, dragons; Romanesque style; depiction relates to Adalbert (Saint; ca. 956–997). Date ca. 1125–1138. Poland, Kraków. Coin (denarius); diameters 12.1–12.4 mm; weight 0.34 g.
