Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1086–1138). Romanesque coin, ca. 1125–1138, Poland, Kraków. Obverse: in a beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Reverse: in a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls (two with a single dot each) and a dot at the crossing of the arms; a sun between them. Motifs: equal-armed cross, crosses, chain mail, spearhead (issue mark), spear(s), knight, dragons, mouths, martyrs, fight between good and evil, fight against pagans, Adalbert (St.; ca. 956–997). Diameter 11.9–12.4 mm; weight 0.75 g.
