Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1086–1138). Obverse: in the linear border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Reverse: in the triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with spheres (two of them with one dot each; other portions blurred), with two spheres radiating between its arms (smaller nearer the center, larger with one dot each). Iconography: spearhead, crosses, chain mail, jaws, knight, dragon, martyrs, fight between good and evil, fight against pagans; Romanesque style. Date: ca. 1125–1138. Place: Kraków, Poland. Coin (denarius). Diameter: 11.9–12.3 mm. Weight: 0.35 g.
