Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1086–1138). Romanesque style coin, ca. 1125–1138, Poland, Kraków. Obverse: in a beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon — allegory of the fight between good and evil, martyrs, knights, dragons, fight against pagans; imagery references Adalbert (Saint; ca. 956–997). Reverse: in a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls; between its arms one dot closer to the center and one sun closer to the ends. Issue mark: spearhead. Material: coin. Diameter 12.6–12.8 mm; weight 0.35 g.
