denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1086–1138 / reign 1107–1138), Romanesque style, ca. 1125–1138, Poland, Kraków; coin (denarius), diameter 12.2–12.5 mm, weight 0.46 g. Obverse: in a beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an inverted dragon — motifs include knight, chain mail, spearhead, jaws, dragons, fight between good and evil, fight against pagans, martyrs, Adalbert (Saint, ca. 956–997). Reverse: in a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with crossbars, a dot at the intersection of the arms, with radiating spheres (smaller near center, larger outward). State of preservation: very good.
