Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1107–1138). Obverse: in the beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Reverse: in the triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls; between its arms, three balls; one arm intersects the other at approximately 1/3 of its length. Iconography: spearhead, chain mail, equal-armed cross, crosses, mouth, knight, martyrs, Romanesque style, knights, dragons, fight against pagans, fight between good and evil, spears, dragon.
