Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1086–1138). Obverse (beaded border): a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Reverse (triple beaded border): an isosceles cross topped with balls; a central ball at the intersection and one ball between the arms. Allegorical imagery: knights, dragons, martyrs, fight against pagans, fight between good and evil; Romanesque style; reference to St. Adalbert. Issue mark: spearhead. Date: ca. 1125–1138. Place: Poland, Kraków. Coin (denarius). Diameter: 11.6–12.1 mm. Weight: 0.39 g.
