Denarius of Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; ca. 1086–1138), Romanesque. Obverse (beaded border): a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon; a dot on the knight's belt. Reverse (triple beaded border): an isosceles cross topped with spheres (three with one dot each); between its arms three spheres (two with one dot each) and a dot. Iconography: allegories, knights, dragon, fight between good and evil, fight against pagans; spear (issue mark). Date: ca. 1125–1138. Place: Kraków, Poland. Coin (denarius). Diameter: 12.8–13.2 mm. Weight: 0.47 g.
