Denarius of Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; ca. 1086–1138). Obverse: in a beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Reverse: in a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls; at the intersection of the arms, a ball with a dot; between the arms, one ball (one with a dot). Iconography: chain mail, spearhead (issue mark), equal-armed cross, crosses, jaws, knight, martyrs, dragons, Romanesque style; themes of Middle Ages, fight between good and evil, fight against pagans; depiction of Saint Adalbert (ca. 956–997). Date: ca. 1125–1138. Place: Poland, Kraków. Medium: coin (denarius). Diameter: 11.3–12.2 mm. Weight: 0.35 g.
