Denarius of Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1107–1138). Obverse: in a beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon; depiction evokes Adalbert/martyrdom and the fight between good and evil. Reverse: in a triple beaded border, an isosceles (equal-armed) cross topped with balls; at the intersection of the arms a ball, with one dot between each arm; one arm intersects the other at approximately 1/3 of its length. Romanesque style; ca. 1125–1138; Kraków, Poland. Coin; diameter 12.5–12.9 mm; weight 0.54 g.
