Denarius of Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1086–1138 / reign 1107–1138). Obverse: in the beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Reverse: in the triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls; at the intersection of the arms, a ball; one ball between the arms. Allegorical imagery of knights, martyrs, fight between good and evil, fight against pagans; Romanesque style. Possible issue mark: spearhead. Associated figure: Adalbert (Saint; ca. 956–997). Date ca. 1125–1138. Poland, Kraków. Coin (denarius). Diameter 11.9–12.3 mm; weight 0.37 g.
