Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1107–1138). Obverse: in beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon; a ball between the knight's legs. Reverse: in triple beaded border, an isosceles equal-armed cross topped with balls, one ball between each arm. Iconography: knight, dragons, spears/spearhead, chain mail, equal-armed cross, mouths, martyrs, fight between good and evil, fight against pagans, Romanesque style; associated with Saint Adalbert. Date ca. 1125–1138. Mint: Kraków, Poland. Coin. Diameter 12.1–12.3 mm. Weight 0.38 g.
