Denarius of Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; ca. 1086–1138), ca. 1125–1138. Obverse: in the beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Reverse: in the triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls; at the intersection of the arms a ball; between the arms, one sun. Romanesque style; iconography includes spearhead, equal-armed cross, chain mail, jaws, martyrs/knight, dragons, fight between good and evil/fight against pagans, spears, Saint Adalbert. Coin; Poland, Kraków. Diameter 12.2–12.6 mm; weight 0.37 g.
