Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1086–1138). Romanesque, ca. 1125–1138. Obverse: in the beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Reverse: in the triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls (one dot on each); between its arms, one ball (one dot on three of them). Iconography: spearhead, chain mail, jaws, dragons, crosses, martyrs, knight, fight between good and evil, fight against pagans; depiction associated with Saint Adalbert (ca. 956–997). Coin (denarius), Poland, Kraków. Diameter approx. 12.7–13.2 mm; weight 0.50 g.
