Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1086–1138). Obverse: in the beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Reverse: in the triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls; at the intersection of the arms, a ball; between the arms, three balls; one arm intersects the other at approximately 1/3 of its length. Iconography: chainmail, spearhead, equal-armed cross, crosses, jaws, knight, martyrs, Romanesque style, dragons, Adalbert (Saint; ca. 956–997), fight between good and evil, fight against pagans, spear. Date: ca. 1125–1138. Place: Poland, Kraków. Medium/function: coin. Diameter: 11.4–11.6 mm. Weight: 0.35 g.
