Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1086–1138). Obverse: in the linear border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon; a dot above the knight's left foot. Reverse: in the triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls; between its arms, one ball (three of them have one dot). Allegorical imagery; equal-armed cross; spearhead issue mark; motifs: jaws, chain mail, martyrs, knight, dragons, Adalbert (St.; ca. 956–997), fight between good and evil, fight against pagans. Romanesque style. Date ca. 1125–1138. Poland, Kraków. Coin. Diameter 12.7–13.2 mm; weight 0.50 g.
