Denarius of Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; ruled 1107–1138). Obverse: in the beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Reverse: in the triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls; one ball between its arms. Allegorical imagery: knights, dragons, fight between good and evil, fight against pagans; motifs include spearhead (issue mark), spears, crosses (equal-armed cross), chain mail, jaws. Romanesque style. Associated figure: Adalbert (St.; ca. 956–997). Date: ca. 1125–1138. Poland, Kraków. Coin (denarius). Diameter: 11.9–12.4 mm. Weight: 0.15 g.
