Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1086–1138). Obverse: within a beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Reverse: within a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls; between its arms three balls; one arm intersects the other at approximately 1/3 of its length. Iconography: knight, dragons, fight between good and evil, martyrs, fight against pagans, spears, spearhead (issue mark), equal-armed cross. Style: Romanesque. Subject references: Adalbert (Saint; ca. 956–997). Date: ca. 1125–1138. Place: Kraków, Poland. Coin; diameter 12.1–12.6 mm; weight 0.35 g.
