Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1086–1138). Obverse: In a linear border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of a dragon turned upside down. Reverse: In a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls (two of them with one dot each); between its arms, one ball (two of them with one dot each). Allegorical imagery: knights, dragons, fight between good and evil, fight against pagans; references to martyrs and Saint Adalbert (ca. 956–997). Romanesque style. Issue mark: spearhead. Date: ca. 1125–1138. Poland, Kraków. Coin. Diameter 12.8–13.3 mm. Weight 0.38 g.
