Denarius of Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1086–1138). Obverse: within a beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon (allegory: fight between good and evil, fight against pagans; depicted knight possibly Saint Adalbert); reverse: within a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls, with a ball between its arms. Romanesque style; Middle Ages; issue mark: spearhead. Ca. 1125–1138. Poland, Kraków. Coin (denarius). Diameter 12.4–12.8 mm; weight 0.41 g.
