Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1086–1138). Obverse: in the beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Reverse: in the triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls, between its arms one sun. Iconography: chain mail, spearhead (issue mark), crosses, martyrs, equal-armed cross, knight, mouths, dragons, spears, dragon; themes of fight between good and evil and fight against pagans; Romanesque style; reference to Adalbert (St.; ca. 956–997). Date ca. 1125–1138. Poland, Kraków. Coin: diameter 12.4 mm, weight 0.39 g.
