Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1086–1138). Obverse (in beaded border): a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Reverse (in triple beaded border): an equal-armed (isosceles) cross topped with balls; between its arms, a sun. Allegorical/romanesque imagery: knights, chain mail, spears, dragon, fight between good and evil, martyrs, Adalbert (Saint; ca. 956–997). Circa 1125–1138, Kraków, Poland. Coin; diameter 12.6–13.1 mm; weight 0.40 g.
