Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1107–1138). Obverse: in the beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead (issue mark) into the jaws of an upside-down dragon; depiction includes chain mail, mouth, knight, dragon — Romanesque style; themes: martyrs, fight against pagans, fight between good and evil; possibly St. Adalbert (ca. 956–997) associations. Reverse: in the triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with spheres (one with a dot); between its arms radiate two spheres (smaller ones nearer the center, larger ones with dots on two). c. 1125–1138, Poland, Kraków. Coin; diameter 12.7–13.3 mm; weight 0.45 g.
