Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1086–1138). Obverse: in a linear border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Reverse: in a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with spheres (one with a dot); at the intersection of the arms, a sphere; between the arms, a single sun. Romanesque style; iconography references Adalbert (St.), martyrs, knights, dragons, fight against pagans, fight between good and evil. Circa 1125–1138, Poland, Kraków. Coin; diameter 11.6–11.9 mm; weight 0.53 g.
