Denarius of Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1086–1138/ruled 1107–1138). Obverse: in the linear border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Reverse: in the triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls (two with one dot each); between its arms, one ball each with one dot. Allegories: fight between good and evil; motifs include equal-armed cross, crosses, spearhead (issue mark), spears, jaws, chain mail, knight, dragons, dragon, martyrs, Adalbert (St.; ca. 956–997), Romanesque style. c. 1125–1138, Poland, Kraków. Coin; diameter 12.2–12.9 mm; weight 0.53 g.
