Denarius of Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland, c. 1086–1138), c. 1125–1138. Av.: In a beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the upside-down jaws of a dragon. Rv.: In a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls (one with a dot); between its arms are balls (three with dots); one arm intersects the other at about 1/3 of its length. Attributes: spearhead (issue mark), equal-armed cross, crosses, chain mail, martyrs, dragon, knight, Romanesque style, Middle Ages, fight between good and evil, St. Adalbert (ca. 956–997), fight against pagans, spears. Coin, Poland (Kraków), diameter 13.1–13.6 mm, weight 0.51 g.
