Denarius of Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; reign 1107–1138). Obverse: within a beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon (scene evoking Adalbert, fight between good and evil, fight against pagans). Reverse: within a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with spheres (two spheres with one dot each); a sun between the arms. Romanesque style, allegorical imagery of knights, martyrs, dragons; issue mark: spearhead. ca. 1125–1138, Poland (Kraków). Coin; diameter 12.7–13.1 mm; weight 0.56 g. Very good state of preservation.
