Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1107–1138). Av.: In a beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Rv.: In a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with spheres; between its arms two spheres (one with a dot) and two suns. Allegorical/Romanesque style imagery: equal-armed cross, spearhead (issue mark), chain mail, martyrs, knight, dragons, fight against pagans, fight between good and evil, Adalbert (Saint; ca. 956–997), spears. c. 1125–1138. Poland, Kraków. Coin. Diameter 12.8–13.1 mm. Weight 0.60 g.
