Denarius of Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; ca. 1086–1138), ca. 1125–1138. Obverse: in a beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting the tip of a spear into the mouth of an upside-down dragon. Reverse: in a triple beaded border, an isosceles (equal-armed) cross topped with balls (three of them have one dot each; the fourth is worn). One arm intersects the other at approximately one-third of its length. Iconography: equal-armed cross, chain mail, spearhead, mouths, dragon, knight, fight between good and evil, martyrs, St. Wojciech. Romanesque style; theme: fight against pagans. Mint: Kraków, Poland. Coin; diameter 13.0–13.5 mm; weight 0.48 g.
