Denarius of Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; ca. 1086–1138), ca. 1125–1138. Obverse: in a beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Reverse: in a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls; between its arms, two quarters with two radiating balls each (smaller ones closer to the center, larger ones farther), and two quarters with one ball each (one with a dot). Romanesque style; iconography includes equal-armed cross, spearhead (issue mark), chain mail, knight, dragon, mouths, martyrs, Adalbert (St.; ca. 956–997), fight against pagans/fight between good and evil. Coin from Kraków, Poland; diameter 12.0–12.4 mm; weight 0.30 g.
