Denarius of Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; ca. 1086–1138), ca. 1125–1138. Obverse (beaded border): a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Reverse (triple beaded border): an isosceles cross topped with balls; a ball between its arms. Iconography: equal-armed cross, spearhead, chainmail, knight, dragon, jaws; themes of martyrs, Adalbert (St., ca. 956–997), fight against pagans, fight between good and evil. Romanesque style. Coin struck in Kraków, Poland. Diameter 12.4–12.7 mm; weight 0.42 g.
