Denarius of Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; ca. 1086–1138), ca. 1125–1138. Obverse: in a beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon; a dot under the knight's right elbow. Reverse: in a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls, a dot at the crossing of the arms, and one ball between them. Iconography: spearhead, equal-armed cross, chain mail, knight, dragon; themes of martyrs, fight against pagans and the struggle between good and evil; Romanesque style; depicted saintly figure Adalbert (St.; ca. 956–997).
