Denarius of Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; c. 1086–1138), c. 1125–1138. Obverse: in a beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Reverse: in a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with spheres (one with a dot); between its arms radiate two spheres (smaller nearer the center, larger farther out; two with a single dot). Iconography: knight, chain mail, spear, dragon, crosses, martyrs, St. Adalbert; Romanesque style; theme: fight of good against evil / fight against pagans. Coin. Poland, Kraków.
