Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1107–1138). Romanesque coin, ca. 1125–1138, Kraków, Poland. Obverse: in the beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Reverse: in the triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls (one with a dot); between its arms, one ball. Iconography: knight, chain mail, spearhead, spear, dragon, mouths, crosses, equal-armed cross, fight of good against evil, fight against pagans, martyrs, Saint Adalbert. Coin; diameter 12.9–13.3 mm; weight 0.52 g.
