Thaler by Michael Stoltz (fl. ca. 1540–1555) depicting Frederick II, Duke of Brzeg-Legnica (1480–1547). Obverse: male bust of the ruler turned right, with a beard and sideburns, wearing a bonnet and a coat with a wide collar fastened on the chest with a chain; rim inscription: +FRIDERI.DGDVX.SLESI.LEGENICZ.BRIGEN. Reverse: four-field heraldic shield of the Duchy of Legnica–Brzeg topped with a jewel with labres and a helmet with labres; rim inscription: VERBVM.DOMINI.MANET.IN.ETERNVM.I54Z. Dated 1542. Region: Silesia, Duchy of Brzeg–Legnica–Wolów (Legnica). Coin; diameter 40.6 mm; weight 28.88 g; axis 315°. Subjects/iconography: Piast dynasty, portraits and busts of the ruler, shields, heraldic shield under a helmet with labres.
