Denarius, silver coin (210 CE). Obverse: Head of Septimius Severus (Roman emperor, 146–211) in a laurel wreath facing right; legend SEVERVS PIVS AUG; pearl rim. Reverse: Naked Jupiter in a cloak stands frontally with head turned left, holding a thunderbolt in his right hand and a long scepter in his left; a small figure with outstretched arms stands on either side of him; legend PM TR P X VIII COS II I P P; pearl rim. Iconography: Jupiter, scepter, thunderbolt. Roman Empire (27 BCE–476 CE), Rome. Diameter about 17.5–18.5 mm; weight 2.54 g.
