Trojak (with a bust of Frederick Kettler). Obverse: in the border a male bust in armor decorated with a ruff facing right, separating in two places the rim inscription .MO.ARG. - DVCVM.CV.E.SEM. Reverse: in the border the White Eagle and the Pogon, one rosette on each side; coats of arms separated by a rosette between the points. Above the value numeral .III.; below, inscription in five lines (the two lower lines separated by a flower on a stem): GROSS:ARG/TRIP:DVC/VM:CVR/ET - SE/9 - 6; on both sides of the fourth line one rosette. Depicts Frederick Kettler (Duke of Courland and Semigallia; 1587–1642) and Wilhelm Kettler (Duke of Courland and Semigallia; 1587–1616). Maker/publisher: Krzysztof Pipenstock (fl. 1569–1600). Iconography: princely busts, male busts with a ruff and in armor, male portraits facing right. Date: 1596. Place: Duchy of Courland and Semigallia, Mitawa. Coin; weight 2.04 g. R6 (rarity).
