Denarius of Commodus (reign 177–192 CE). Obverse: Emperor's bust right, wearing a laurel wreath; inscription 'M COMM ANT P FEL AVG BRIT' [pearly border]. Reverse: Jupiter seated left on a throne, holding a branch in his right hand and a scepter in his left; inscription 'IOV EX SVP PM TR P' with 'COS V' in exergue [pearl border]. Date circa 186–187 CE. Roman Imperial coin (Rome). Silver, weight 2.87 g, axis 180°. Subjects: imperial bust, Jupiter, scepter; hoard find noted.
