Denarius, Marcus Aurelius (121–180; Roman emperor 161–180) and Faustina the Younger (ca. 130–176; Roman empress 161–176). Obverse: bust of the empress right in drapery, hair in waves tied in a bun, pearl border, inscription 'FAVSTINA AVGVSTA'. Reverse: Ceres seated on a chest, turned left, holding ears of corn in her right hand and a torch in her left, pearl border, legend 'C·E RE' (or similar). Iconography: Faustina the Younger, imperial busts; Ceres (mythology) with torch and ears of corn attributes. Date: 161–176. Place: Rome, Roman Empire. Object: coin (denarius), weight 2.89 g.
