Denarius of Faustina the Younger (ca. 161–176 CE). Silver coin, weight 3.25 g. Obverse: Bust of the empress right, draped, hair in waves and tied in a bun, pearl border; legend FAVSTINA AVGVSTA (second part poorly legible). Reverse: Ceres seated left on a chest, holding ears of corn in her right hand and a torch in her left; pearl border. Imperial iconography; Roman Empire (27 BC–476), Rome. Makers: Marcus Aurelius (emperor 161–180) associated; Faustina the Younger (empress ca. 130–176).
