Obverse: bust of King John II Casimir Vasa (right profile) wearing a crown, armor, lace collar, and a chain with the Order of the Golden Fleece; chain rim inscribed 'IOAN:CASIM:D:G:REX POL.& SUEC:M:D:L.RUS.PRUS.' Reverse: panorama of the city across a river; Eye of Providence in radiant clouds above; coat of arms of Gdansk held by two lions; date flanked by GāR. Legend: '5 EX AURO SOLIDO CIVITAS GEDANENSIS FIERI FECIT.' Maker: Gerhard Rogge (fl. 1639ā1657). Polish coin; diameter ~47ā47.3 mm, weight 18.32 g, axis 0°., A round gold-colored medallion with a twisted decorative edge, showing an engraved scene of a skyline with spires and towers and a stylized sun with rays and a small triangular motif above a band of cloud; the central area includes an ornamental crest flanked by two figures and decorative borders around the scene; the surface and edge are metallic gold with slight variations in sheen and darker patina in some recessed areas.
