Double Augustor; maker: Ernest Dietrich Croll (fl. 1753–1763); subject: August III the Saxon (King of Poland 1733–1763; Elector of Saxony 1696–1763); thaler, 1754; struck in Leipzig, Germany; Polish coin; weight 13.27 g. Obverse: Crowned bust of the king facing right with the Order of the Golden Fleece on the chest. Legend: D:G:AUGUSTUS III: REX POLONIARUM:. Reverse: Under a crown a five-opel shield surrounded by two branches, with the Polish, Lithuanian, and Saxon coats of arms. Bottom inscription: E.-C. 10 TH. Inscription: SAC.ROM. IMP.ARCHIM. ET ELECT., A circular gold-colored coin with a raised rim and decorative edge, showing a central shield divided into quarters with small heraldic animals and a crown above; ornate leaf-like flourishes flank the shield and there is a curved ribbon-like band beneath it. The surface shows fine engraved lines and slight scratches, and the overall color palette is shades of gold and yellow.
