Lithuanian ducat, Sigismund II Augustus (King of Poland; 1544–1572), very good state of preservation, R8 rarity. Obverse: Bust of Sigismund Augustus in a crown, with a longer beard; rim inscription 'SIGIS AVG REX POLO MD LIT,' rim interrupted by the king's crown, pearl rim. Reverse: Under the ducal mitre, a decorative shield with the coats of arms of Poland, Lithuania, Kiev, Samogitia, Volhynia, and the Sforza family; date '1560' flanking the mitre; rim inscription 'MONE AVRE MAG DVCAT LIT,' rim interrupted by the mitre, pearl rim. Genre: Lithuanian coin; motifs: iconography, portraits of rulers, busts, coats of arms. Date: 1560. Place: Vilnius, Poland (Grand Duchy of Lithuania). Medium: coin; diameter 22 mm; weight 3.45 g.
