Sugar bowl with a lid and a branch handle, Koenigliche Porzellain Fabrique, Meissen (1710–1763), manufacturer. Cylindrical sugar bowl, rounded at the base, with a slightly arched lid and a plastic, colorfully painted branch handle featuring four flowers and leaves at the ends of the side shoots: three forget-me-nots, two brick-red flowers and one yellow. On the sides of the body are two cartouche frames and on the cover one, each framed by two purple draperies suspended from the sides on small flower bouquets and dry rocailles, topped and bottomed on the symmetry axis with brick-red draperies suspended on plant branches. Within the cartouches are landscape miniatures with architecture and staffage painted in purple camaieu: (1) a fragment of a hill with trees, two figures, and a building in a valley; (2) two buildings among bushes; cover: (3) a plateau with a house and a hill in the distance on the right. Between the cartouches on the body are two colorful ornamental-floral motifs; on the lid are two woodcut flowers and three insects. The rim of the sugar bowl and the lid are gilded. Ca. 1750. Meissen porcelain vessel; height 12 cm, width 12 cm.
