Red-figure pelike, Attic workshop; pelike (vessel), pink clay. Slightly matte black engobe. Some elements painted white. Pelike with a slender belly, wide neck widening upwards. Rolled outward rim decorated with a frieze of ox-eyes. Two bipartite handles attached vertically below the rim, extending to the gently sloping shoulders. On either side of the body, two scenes bounded top and bottom by an ox-eyes frieze. Kerch style. Scene A: Woman's head turned right, wearing a Phrygian cap whose edge is marked with a black line with elongated points; face and neck painted white. In the background on the right, a horse protoma; on the left, the front part of a griffin. Scene B: Two male figures facing each other, wrapped in long cloaks; facial features unmarked. Preservation: partially reconstructed rim. Date: 2nd half of the 4th century BC. Origin: Attica. Dimensions: height 29.9 cm, width 13.1 cm.
